Faculty Member, Literature
Assistant Professor of Postcolonial Studies
About
I work on African and Asian literatures, global feminisms, postcolonial political theory, and the digital humanities.
I am presently working on three book projects. The first is called "Cosmopolitan Whiteness: Practices of Privilege in Postcolonial Literature," and is about practices of whiteness in postcolonial literature in Southeast Asia, West and Southern Africa and the Caribbean, and the role of different media technologies in the construction of whiteness.
The second book is a collection of essays on gender and sexuality in Singapore and Malaysia, and the third is titled "Dangerous Women: Revisiting the Social Contract in Postcolonial Literature," and focuses on representations of women's education and women's citizenship in postcolonial literature.
